In only one year, 1983, he climbed six peaks: Aconcagua, Denali, Kilimanjaro, Mount Elbrus, Mountt Vinson and Mount Kosciuszko. This makes a lot of sense to me. After the first solo trip to the North Pole (1978), he planned to go on his own to Antarctica to climb Mount Vinson. I don’t understand folks spending a fortune on climbing an 8k peak with oxygen who have never climbed a single 6k peak without artificial help.
