I was pretty much set on KA and then at the last minute splurged on Dacor because I thought the broiler was better - and to be perfectly honest because I liked the appearance better. Others might have more sophisticated cooking needs than I do.
Looking at thermidor but had one of their dishwashers a few years ago and had to replace as it was so loud and did such a poor job of washing dishes after about 2 years despite the high price.Abit leery about the brand as a result.

Our space could only accomodate 27" so I did the research as to the largest interior capacity, as well as brought my baking pans into the showroom and "tested" the ovens' capacity - Thermador won. subzero-wolf.com, Inventor of the downdraft system, Jenn-Air knows ventilation.
Should we extend our island to accommodate informal breakfast seating. Check out DCS - we looked at Wolf, Viking, Dacor and many others but settled on DCS and we love it.

The only small negative I have is the spacings of bars on the oven racks themselves are a bit wide, only time I notice it is if I do a large batch of banana loaves and instead of doing 2 large loaves, I make 6 mini loaves. Dacor looks like Miele's gas range which is also simple & elegant (discovered it too late in the game to start considering it). I'm sorry that people have had problems with their Thermador ovens.
Bruce, There is a 120 volt, 20 amp plug -- NEMA 5-20P that looks similar, but the right angled hot and neutral prongs are reversed compared to the 208/240 version. I see in this forum, Wolf doesn't get many complaints. I looked at Wolf and Thermador ovens but I needed 27" and I don't believe Wolf made that size. we are doing a whole new kitchen on our waterfront home and not sure if we will go wolfe this time.
I had a Dacor built in oven previously, same type of model, either pure convection, pure convention or a combo, worked great, but had a few issues at the end, ie: sensor went (they dont have thermometers) and was fairly expensive to replace. (4 great burners is truly sufficient.) If you are considering range tops, then the knobs, which will likely be separated on the front plane of the range, will not be an issue. Wolf was our second choice but wasn't rated by CR.
Both my wife and I called BS.
Clean up is extremely easy too--damp cloth wipes up everything. Two of the service calls were regarding the electrical operational panel. Now that we've had it for a while and we are cooking on it, we are quite impressed with every aspect - the build quality, the temperature controls, the smooth sliding racks.
