Try fishing around the deep hole, the points, the bridge on the north end of the lake, and weedlines. Kent Lake via Candalero Canyon Trail Loop is a 10.5 kilometer moderately trafficked loop trail located near Fairfax, California that features a lake and is rated as moderate.
The other part of Chatham-Kent’s Waterfront Trail has been open since 2013 and runs along Lake Erie [Maps 13-16] between Leamington and Elgin. Great trail, mostly covered, and nice to have some rest by the lake.

Would like to keep this one a secret but that is not what we do on All Trails - great hike. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Tables, fire rings and pits are at each camp site.
Low to non-existent crowds make it appealing in COVID times.

Was a nice change of scenery from our usual Berkeley Hills. Ferns galore.
Good hunting, fishing, hiking and spectacular scenery is in the area. All in all, it was a really nice hike, but directions can be a bit confusing. Directions: Kents Lake Campground is located approximately 14.7 miles southeast of Beaver, Utah. This was steep for the first part but then evened out and was a gorgeous hike through the woods. Brown, brook tiger and rainbow trout are catchable from a small boat or from the shoreline. I’ve been doing a lot of trail running since the pandemic and it’s my favorite trail so far. Hike the Contour Trail until you come to a fork in the road: left takes you up Boulder Springs Trail and right down the Caterpillar Trail. Relax on the patio overlooking the beach with great views of Rondeau Provincial Park just across the bay. Sites vary from back-in to pull throughs and will accommodate trailers from 24 to 60 feet long. The Fishlake National Forest has completed a route designation process as shown on the official Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) dated August 2007.
Erie Shore Trail – major upgrades are planned for 2015. Didn’t find a parking spot there but we found one in Cortes St and started walking from there.
The trail is not marked into Erieau – it is a technically a side trip and a must-see stop. be aware of that!
The northwest section of Chatham-Kent Waterfront Trail meanders alongside the Thames River on Tecumseh Line. Yelp/Enjoli M. For decades, Kent Lake has attracted visitors of all ages to its shores.
Parting thoughts: the Contour Trail is beautiful and felt very secluded. You will be able to see a gate and a sign for the trail. We also have the following visitor guides in Utah. Not much parking and be prepared to drive on a few one lane roads in a residential area to get to the TH. did an extra loop around the Kent lake dam area, but that wasn't worth it. As others below mention, start from Candelero where the road hairpins into Forest drive.
With the expansion of the Waterfront Trail to Lake Huron in 2016, Chatham will add 63 km of Trail in the northern part of the Municipality along the Thames and St. Clair Rivers [Maps 25-26].
The beginning of this trail crosses a private easement/private road that is not legally accessible to the public. Hike the Candelero Trail eventually taking a right on the Contour Trail.

Erieau Marsh Trail – In 2012 the community celebrated the installation of a pedestrian/cycling bridge that connected the Erieau Marsh Trail to Lagoon Rd letting people enjoy a walk/cycle along Rondeau Bay. If you're at the junction of 3 roads (Tamarack, Juniper, and Hemlock) then you're in the right place. Amenities include: parking, a covered picnic shelter, washrooms and a walking trail around the wetland.
Below are the Free Visitor Guides for Beaver. Park at the end of the road before it turns the bend into Forest Drive. As you head into Erieau be sure to take in the path that runs along a dike located on the southern side of McGeachy Pond, a Provincially significant wetland. Mitchell’s Bay is renowned for its great fishing. I don't recommend traveling far for it.
Beautiful and well maintained, but definitely closer to 8.5 than 6.5 miles. Thames and St. Clair River (north section). 5.7 km from Winter Line and Wiliam Lewis Ln (Map 25) to Bear Line Rd and Robin Ln (Map 26); and, 7.6 km from Baldoon Rd and Robin Ln (Map 26) to Border and Beattie. Varied terrain - plenty of climbs and downhills. Erieau makes a great stop along the Waterfront Trail, offering beaches, a marina, accommodations, restaurants and even a brewery. Extra vehicle is $6.00.

My wife and I did not end up hiking the trail down to the lake, so I can’t help you from there.
I would definitely recommend it, and would like to do it again. The most direct, most scenic, and easiest route is via the Lake Champlain Ferry that departs from Downtown Burlington, VT (King Street Dock) and land at Port Kent, NY (Just a few miles away). A lot of variety on the trail + also some ups & downs but well worth it. Camping at Wheatly Provincial Park, Rondeau Provincial Park or Mitchell’s Bay, Accommodations in Leamington (Essex County), Erieau, Blenheim, Ridgetown, Chatham (about 20 km north of Lake Erie), MacDonald’s Park and Roberta Stewart Wetland. After lunch at the lake, we decided to take Peter's Dam Fire Road to Continental Cove Road back to San Geronimo Ridge Road.
The road is generally passable for all bikes, though a hybrid type tire is generally preferable. I made two small changes to the original trail 1) when you get closer to the lake, the original map has you going left on Grassy Knoll - go right on Continental Cove.
With approximately 1,200 acres in total, this lovely reservoir lake was formed via a dam on the Huron River at its creation in 1946.
The lake used to freeze over in winters past and skating parties were a familiar sight in the 1920s, when the banks would be lined with spectators.

Great birding spot! Really nice hike, lots of steep uphills with rewarding end at the lake- went on a Saturday in February and there was no one else at the lake when we got there.

Going northwest after crossing the Thames River you may be tempted to take a detour to see the St Clair National Wildlife Area. Washrooms are available seasonally. DIRECTIONS: Set your GPS for Candelero Ave, Lagunitas CA. Returning via San Geronimo Ridge and Boulder Springs is 3.9 miles.

Some experienced cyclists prefer Talbot Trail though conditions here are 90kph, no shoulders and frequent truck travel.
it is mostly shady. This pretty side trip winds past several pretty, small lakes and campgrounds before joining the unpaved portion of Hwy. Now, you can walk to your car which would hardly be 5 mins away. Kent Lake Loop is a 7.2 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Forest Knolls, California that features a lake and is rated as moderate.
